                  Ruud's full name is Rutgerus Johannes Martinius Ruud van Nistelrooy. Ruud plays for Manchester United as his club team and he plays for Holland as his international team. After playing for FC Den Bosch and Heerenveen, Ruud marked his 22nd birthday by signing for PSV Eindhoven for £4.2 million, a record transfer between Dutch clubs. Ruud made an instant impact for his new club. In August, he scored his first League goal for PSV against his former club. He made himself a real threat when he scored a hat-trick against Sparta. In two full seasons Ruud scored more than 60 goals for PSV. This was what first let Manchester United know what great potential Ruud held. His debut in the Manchester United jersey was on April 12, 2001 against Liverpool. Although he wasn't signed until April 23, 2001. In his debut season Ruud scored 36 goals. In his second season he eclipsed that number incredibly, he scored 44 goals in helping Manchester United win the FA Premiership title. He scored his 100th and 101st goals against Everton at Goodison Park on February 7, 2004. He finished that season with 28 goals which wouldn't help Manchester as they lost the FA Premiership title to Arsenal that year. In the 2004/2005 season, Ruud was plagued by injury but still managed to obtain 16 goals in 27 appearances. That same year he also finished as the top scorer in the Champions League with 8 goals. Ruud topped the UEFA League charts 3 out of 4 seasons with Manchester. The season ended tragically for Ruud as he missed many opportunities to score against Arsenal in the FA Premiership finals. The game would finish as a 0-0 draw and Arsenal clinched the title through a penalty shootout which they won 5-4. Ruud has appeared over 217 times in the Manchester United jersey. During those games, he has scored more than 150 goals. His debut appearance for Holland was on November 18, 1998 against Germany. The game ended as a 1-1 draw. For Holland he has appeared 3 times (counting the upcoming World Cup) and scored # goals.
